M5 Od question
I have a 88 F150 4x2 with a 302 and a Mazda 5 speed. I seem to have a little bit of slop where my slip yoke goes into my tail shaft extension maybe 1/32 of movement. Is this normal?? If not does anyone know how hard it is to change the bearing and do I have to remove the tail shaft extension to change it?? Could this be the cause of the slight harmonic vibration I have between 55 and 67 mph?? Any input is greatly appreciated!!

I would say your slipyoke is normal, I have 205,000 miles on my 93 and have about an 1/8 inch of play(side to side). Put the truck in nuetral and check the ujoints. Vibration is the hardest thing to diagnose of a vehicle. Start with the tires and Ujoints

Thanks for your imput crossman,,, I feel a bit better about the slop,,,, upon further examination I did find a small dent in my driveshaft,,,,, maybe thats the problem. I actually found it trying to get home from work yesterday after I jump a curb and drove down an imbankment and bottomed out in the median. Yes I was 1 of the people affected by the power outage. I never ever drive my truck that way but come on!!!! 2.5 hrs to get home ( 30 miles) on the freeway. Who knows that dent ( not a new one may be the problem and at least the power outage helped me find it!!!!!
