I am in the process of replacing the entire brake system on my truck. I am having an issue installing the brake line that supplies the rear drums. It seems like I need to remove the steering box to get the pre-bent tube through the frame so I can attach it to the combination valve. I tried removing the bolts that hold the steering box to the frame, but that did not help. Anyone have any suggestions?
Yep..routing the line requires removal of the steering box... or at least two bolts and the third one really loose so the line can be installed behind it.
No you wouldn't have to on a 4wd. I think the 302 was 2wd only so that would explain it. 2wd's have steering box behind the axle, so the brake lines pass behind the box.
