Just bought a '94 Ranger 4x4 yesterday... its an automatic with overdrive, reg cab, 3.0 motor. I heard the 3.0motor is very durable, and the A4LD is not so durable. But I also read that the '94 A4LD is made stronger than prior years. The truck does have a slight bump when first stepping on the gas, but that could be just drivetrain slack taking up, or maybe a downshift?
The truck is great, nice and clean and smooth running. The odometer only says 65k miles and the engine is very clean, like the rest of the truck.
The steering is abit loose and there is fluid on the steering box. Is that common? I think its just a steering box adjustement needed, and maybe a seal... but have to look closer at it on the lift.
Wish it had more power on the highway though. Any mods for that motor? Is there a supercharger kit for it? Anything else?
nothing much for mods , i have a 96 2wd and love it but the 3.0L is just a motor you really have few options with that why next spring i am going to 5.0L , try K&N air filter, and flowmaster muffler,
