73 xlt rolling build thread(Denmark)
Just a loong update on this imported f100 xlt.
So i picked this baby up about a year ago, drove it 150 miles with tickin engine ,
on coconutshell tires..
Got the timing sort of going(my first post ).
Tickin got worse, but didnt have time to fix it,since we sold our house.
Livin in a rented house with a very small garage(hood of car could not open all the way..!)i found the tickin sound. Some of the lifters had stuck, and snapped five pushrods ,thank god no internal damage, though one of the rod pieces were on its way down into the engine.. got it out with a magnet on a stick.
While ordering new lifters and rods i got carried away( u know..)and ordered edelbrock performer ,and an edelbrock carb while at it.
Now for the start up...: Nothing. Turns out the timing was way off since last tune up. Got it runnin again, fixed the illegal US lights(Dont Ask..)new brake hoses, alignment, cassette player, new trailer socket.

Got it through inspection just before winter '15.
Finally found our new home at that time, now with sufficient garage space..
Moved the car there just before christmas, and parked it , while partly restoring the house , and wifey delivered twins. Now it was March , and time to start charging the battery and get ready for that first spring cruise. Turn the key...: Nothing. Now the points are gone. Turns out i bought a new set at some point(..ha.) Set the timing again , and now it fired right up and ran like never before... for a week. One day after towing some rental gear ,as i head home it just went dead.. Got picked up by road service( have pictures, No you cant see them...) turns out the tip of the new points had broken of ,right where the spark is made
Ordered Pertronix instead, fires right up ,except when engine is warm,? havent figured out why but then again i did not adjust timing after intstalling Pertronix kit. Present time.: Yesterday brake pedal went almost to the floor, im suspecting bad master cylinder to cause this,so just ordered a new one. Of course this happened with wife in passenger seat....
Anyway, Story to be continued...Beelow.
That Ford must really look out of place in Denmark.
I have Pertronix ignitions on two engines and have never even looked at them after installation. Good units. If you have problems with it, contact them. You may have to stay up late to get them during business hours, but that comes with the territory.
