Question Help... installing stereo in 2011 E150

Hi,

In my 2011 E150 I'm installing a simple CD/USB Stereo to replace the base AM/FM radio.

The manual says that "Module configuration is required" for a new ACM.

Wow, don't know what that is or what it's all about.

Can't I just swap the new unit in?

Thanks,
Lance

Hi Lance,
I found this bit of info, seems like there are different interface modules for different boxes.

Dunno any more than that, might need to chase module part numbers or someone may have a reference. Good luck. jim

Ya, those are the same instructions I have... as mentioned, I don't understand what "Module configuration is required" means, if I need to to do or if I can ignore that.

Someone who has done this or a dealer visit is the best bet on good answers. My guess is that to interface the outputs from the radio/CD/etc, the ACM converts the signals to what the car expects to see. Ford has built a few ACM that the stereo makers just use for their signal connections.

Here is a thread on one such install for example:
2010 w/satellite radio - Page 3 - MustangForums.com

A similar analogy would be DSL internet: the modem converts wifi signals to a signal that can be sent on a telephone line. Same idea. jim
