Recently I purchased a replacement set of power tow mirrors for my f250 SD from car parts discout. When they arrived I installed them only to find out the drivers side was not working properly. I press up it goes down, I press right it goes left, etc... This only happens with the drivers side. Passenger side works as it should. So i call them and explain the problem, then they tell me I have to pay for another mirror and will be refunded once the first one is returned. I recieve the new mirror and guess what, same issue, so I call them again, they will pull one off the shelf and test it.

Then thurs i get a phone call asking for pics of connector because they swear up and down that the mirrors they sent me have a flat plug connector, They do not, 99 uses a round 3 wire connector. Again they ask why i didnt send pics of the flat connector and adapter for round plugin. DUH, BECAUSE IT DOESN'T HAVE IT!!!

SO, her i sit out almost $250.00, 2 mirrors that dont work properly, and a tech department rhat swears up and down that i have a flat plug connector and the pics clearly show other wise.

Still waiting on them to figure out the issue and send me a properly working mirror.

Do not deal with car parts discount on mirrors unless you want to go through my fun.

 

maybe you have the mirror mounted upside down??? Just kidding. Customer service by experienced and knowledgeable professionals is a thing of the past in this country. The typical response from our IT department here at work is, "let me google it and see what I can come up with."...Hell, I can do that!

yeah, if you actually phone up a manufacturer to ask them about their product, the people they hire to answer the phone seem to just be able to repeat what's on their web site...sometimes incorrectly...

 

Ok, kind of a long shot here but when i did the 08 mirror swap on my 99 the plugs were different (obviously, lol). I wired both side the same way to find the mirrors doing crazy things like hit left and it goes right and up. I just needed to move my wires around. I wonder if your new mirror motors have different polarities and you need to swap some wires around.

 

That's more than likely the case, but I think he is trying to get out of making a hack job of his wiring harness since what he bought should be a direct replacement.

 

No need to hack it up, you can remove the retainer for the pins in the connector and with a small screwdriver or a pick you can move a tab out of the way and pull the pin out of the connector. Then re-install in the correct spot.

I spent an hour switching the wires around in every imaginable combo and it only made it worse.
Got a call from them.....they gave up trying to figure it out, got a return label for 2nd mirror to go back for refund. They offered me a 30 dollar refund and keep the mirrors. Gee 150.00 - 30 = 120 profit for screwed up mirrors...I DONT THINK SO!!!
After bitching at them they are giving me 30 days to find a new, properly working set somewhere else. And they will fully refund me on these......keep ya posted if they honor it.

 

Sorry that the wire deal didnt work out for you. I really thought that was going to do it. Im glad they are finally getting back to you but man, thats some really crappy service.

 

Did you buy mirrors for a 99 model? Or 08+ mirrors?

 

That's odd. When I put tow mirrors on my POS Chevrolet it originally came with electric mirror that didn't work. Guessing switch but didn't care. I replaced them with unpowered mirrors.

 

They were listed for a 99 and up f250 SD. Hence the round 3 wire plug newer mirrors use a flat plug. It's odd that the passenger mirror worked fine, bu the drivers side didn't Well time to shop for a new set.

 

Doesn't sound like the best customer service to me. Hopefully you can find a set that works and they honor the refund.

 

when I installed my 08 mirrors on my old 03 I purchased them from 1aauto (2003 Ford F350 Super Duty Truck Power Heated Signal & Clearance Light Telescoping Towing Upgrade Mirror Pair at 1A Auto.com). Had great customer service when one mirror broke(sent out a new set right away with no hassle) and they worked great. They are a bit more expensive but well worth it.
