4x4 not working

I have a 1994 Ranger. I took my truck to Silver Lake in MI this summer to test the 4x4. It worked but would clunk like it was not engaging. When I got home I had forgotten about it and come this winter I tried to use it and it would not even turn on. I had tried the reset button and it did nothing.I have a push button 4x4. Any ideas?

Did you check the fuses?
Are the hubs locking? Is the front drive shaft turning when you put it in 4wheel drive?

Yes I check the fuse and no the hubs are not engaging and neither is the drive shaft. The motor on the transfercase is not engaging to the 4x4. :-)

4x4 not working

I remember a post a while back, but don’t remember what it was called or exactly what was done. But they had the same problem as you, except they heard the motor clicking a bit, so what he did was take the motor out took it apart and cleaned up the contacts, and put it back together and it worked. I’m pretty sure that’s how he did it, but I could be wrong.
Do a search for something like "push button 4X4"
Hope this helps, you could post your question in the ranger forum, they might know how to help you better there.
