I have this truck at the farm and I would like to know more about it and this is all I have to go by. It looks like it may of been double stamped or something. If anyone can make it out or make sense of it for me it would be greatly appreciated thank you.
It appears Canadian. I don't have time to study it just now. I can look at it closer later if someone else doesn't jump in first. Can you give us a clue as to what the truck is we're looking at?
Near as I can tell, it appears to be an overstamp that reads FAE83AHR39593. If so, that would mean it's a 1954 F100 Pickup, standard cab, built in Windsor ONT. How did I do?
Thank you. That's what I thought it read but I just wasn't sure. Forgive me if I sound like a bimbo but can you tell what the original motor or anything else by the vin?
The engine code is not part of the VIN in '54, but the only engine available in Canada-built trucks that year was the 239 Flathead V8. I've decoded about all you can tell from the VIN.
See if this helps? I played around with Photoshop a bit. You are right. Some of the numbers have been double struck. You can open this image in a new tab and then zoom in to make it larger in some of the critical areas.
