Replace Sirius with XM?

The Sirius radio in this new 2016 SD is low on audio quality. It’s the satellite side, not the system as other audio sources are great (Sony system).

My last 2 GMCs had XM and the audio quality was substantially better. I realize that Sirius and XM are now one company, but appears that there is a difference on receivers/sats/quality.

Has anyone put in a “portable” XM receiver in place of their Sirius setup on a Ford Touch setup? I’m sure I can hook it to the external source, would be even better to use the built-in antenna and steering wheel controls.

Or is this audio quality related to another component? My ’11 F150 had even worse audio quality for the sat (think monotone FM).

I’m looking at this XM receiver:

The only thing you could do is call SiriusXM and ask if there's any better package then what is equipped from the factory, and if you can upgrade. The aftermarket tuners, in my experience, have all had worse reception than the factory tuners in vehicles I've owned or have been in.
