Alright guys.. I have a 97 4 door long bed with a e4od. I just bought it about a week ago, it's been sitting for years. I got it running, it needed a starter and had a problem with the fuel filter heater. It has 300,000 miles, could use injectors but they're working fine. It has new glowplugs but they don't work and I think it's the relay but it's not winter so I haven't been having problems starting it. Here's my problem and it started today, when you turn the truck off it will not start on its own, you can crank it as long as you want it doesn't even barley think about starting. Tach moves, oil pressure gauge goes up, I unplugged the icp sensor and it doesn't make a difference. I hate starting fluid that **** kills but that's the only way it starts now if you spray quite a bit it has trouble starting and when it starts sounds and runs perfect as long as you want.. No missing no rough idle just as smooth and as perfect as can be. You can drive it for an hour and turn it off and try to turn it back on immediately and it won't.. I'm leaning toward the ipr as the problem but never messed with one so don't really know how to go about it.. What do y'all think?
sounds like the IPR O-rings. They are pretty easy to replace so I would recommend doing that before buying a new sensor. I think the O-rings can be had a Riffraff or International if there is one close to you

Ok sir.. I guess I'll take it out and see if I can find orings

I had the same issue on the company work truck about a month ago it wound up being that hpop that needed replacing.
HPOP's usually go out slowly but hardly ever. Boodrow, it just might be the IPR is sticking. Guys clean them up but they are not rebuildable. Some think they are rebuildable, some don't.

Ok.. Yea it's weird like I said just out of nowhere it wouldn't start. I think it's the ipr but some guys are telling me if its the ipr it wouldn't run at all. Got mad today and used starting fluid to try to start it and it kinda popped and caught the air filter on fire.. It was stupid and I hop I didn't ruin the motor.. I'm going to try to get an ipr next..
Do you have any way of monitoring icp pressure and duty cycle? That will show you without a doubt wich way to go. Also check the fuel filter element and see if it's a nice natural tan or black.

Not really but maybe I could figure something out if that's what I need to do
