Driveshaft angles

Hallo,
I just lowered my 68 - f100 with the djm lowering kit. I am getting a bit confused about setting up the driveline angles on a multiple shaft installation, and would be very thankful if i could get som input. The angles are set up as in the picture right now, would this work or what angle/angles should i change?

Thanks in advance/ Oskar

Welcome Orre, to the bump Kingdom.

I am sure that either Number Dummy, King Jefffafa, or even the Fordification web site can advise you on the correct angles, and the limits for correct angles.

Good luck amigo, and you might PM them.

I was told the angles are there to keep the needle bearings spinning in the U joints . not enough angle and you will be eating up U joints . So my rule of thumb has always been to match what was Original to vehicle .

The coupling shaft's bearing isn't modified with DJM'S spring shackle and/or hangers so just bolt in and go.

Hey Hio, I am by No means an expert at this question but the 3 degrees at the tranny and 5 degrees at the rear axle seems a issue to me. The DJM'S did this?

The engine and rear end should be parallel. They make angle shims to go between the springs and the axle housing to change the rear end angle.

2X Alex from Ga comments, The higher that angle at the diff is the harder the u-joint bearings will work.

Maybe the best driveline video I have ever watched. Thank you for sharing that. With the two piece, it adds a totally new element to the situation. I have had to play with my two piece a fair bit to get the angles to work together, that is with a CV at the middle and rearend joint.

Good luck.

3x Alex from GA. I've said it before on here that the DJM rear drop results in some tip up on the diff because the front hanger gives more drop than than back shackle. Search "DJM Pinion Angle Shim" on Ebay. You want those bolts because they have a longer head to go thru the shim into the axle pad.

Make sure you check your angles with weight on all 4 wheels.

I don't understand why people don't measure pinion angle before doing rear suspension mods.

I'm not too concerned with mine. It changes constantly. And with the 2-piece driveshaft they're not all the same anyway. Close enough is good enough, until it's not.
