$24, 800 for a 2001?? I stopped and looked at it and it is clean, 4x4, 7.3, limited, didn't see any mods. That is like 10K over book from what I found (KBB). Just curious..
I bought mine 2 years ago w/ 83k miles from the original owner for $18.5k. I haven't seen another for the same deal since, but that guy's going to be sitting on that one for a while.
These people are smoking their own feces. Like you said, 10K over.
In a perfect world but there's no way you're gonna find a clean 7.3 with less miles for $10K less. That's what the 6.8's are going for. IMHO
EDIT: Geographical location seems to play a large role. I am speaking from my experience on the West Coast and what I see daily on Craigslist and everything is negotiable.

I called them to see if they made a mistake on their website. No, they are very proud of that thing! I paid a thousand over book on my super duty when I bought it a few years back. Completely understand how that stuff works...The big challenge on being this much over book limits them to a much smaller pool of buyers. No bank will finance a 15 year old vehicle for that much. I told them good luck!

I recently had to put another truck on my insurance so I started chatting the nice lady up on the phone and decided to ask a hypothetical question to see what they would give me if god forbid anything ever happened (knocking on wood) and they totaled my Ex, she said KBB value...needless to say I raised my coverage on the spot.
I would put our trucks in a "specialty vehicle" category, they are getting rare, especially a low miles 7.3 so I'm not surprised at what they are asking but I would say come in with a strong offer and see what they say.
That black 7.3 if it's from that dealer's local area isn't nearly Southern or Western enough to demand anywhere near that price, Central VA is still in the great Winter salt zone. I'd like to see the underside of that EX........
