The eBay set are correct for what I need, unfortunately there was only one set. The NON headliner ones are rounded off above the door and have a finished end. I will post a photo later. Thanks again for any help.

Since 1956, numbers marked on parts are ID Engineering numbers, not part numbers.

Post #12: Look at the 1980/89 Ford Truck Parts Catalog illustration pic I posted (lower pic), the basic part numbers for the trim are 03598 right and 03599 left.

The text pic (upper) lists the complete part numbers. Notice that 1980/86 is different than 1987/89.

I was about to reply, but looked at the ebay pics of the set you picked up first and sure enough, the bottoms are different. 87 up maybe? Too bad they aren't correct, sucks to buy the wrong parts. I am trying a second time to repair mine and if they look even somewhat ok I'll run them until someone repops the parts. The SEM custom mixed color coat is on the kick panels and drying, we will see tomorrow how it matches up to the original pieces. Either way it will be an improvement. I am surprised how runny the custom mix is, 2 complete cans to spray 2 kick panels and 2 map pockets, takes about 4 coats to get decent coverage.

This might be worth a phone call to SEM since they are known for helpful customer service. I am wondering if they sell more than one interior paint and you got the wrong one. I was researching sources of Canyon Red color matched interior paint and came across LMR vinyl paint. There are two reviews of their paint, one good and one bad. The bad review said the color match was perfect, but the coverage was very poor. The author said he then bought the same color paint but "for plastics" and it covered great. LMR's response was that the product he used was specifically for flexible interior parts and was intended for use on parts in the same color family (minor color changes at most) and that a drastic re-color would require many, many coats. That was just the nature of the more flexible paint. So I wonder if you perhaps are having a similar experience??? The review is at the bottom of this page:

It has been the better part of a year since I used SEM to redo a dash in a car I am working on and don't remember it not covering too good.
It was black going over black so that may be why?

I also don't remember SEM making a different paint for soft part & hard parts, just 1 paint. Then again it was what the body supply store had on the shelf but SEM site has more to offer so maybe?

I get my SEM paint (the ColorCoat vairant IIRC) custom-mixed at a local paint store, they won't put it into spray cans for me because they say it is already a thin consistency and to thin it even more for spray can usage is problematic for some reason... maybe this is that reason.

I've used off the shelf color coat before and it seemed to cover better and be less runny than the custom mix, but it has been a few years. The good news is the color looks like a near perfect match and the finish looks great, hard to tell it was re-colored. My past experience with color coat is that it is a very durable and permanent finish. I will have to order more if and/or when I redo more interior panels. Of course now that the kick panels look good and I have map pockets for the doors I am betting the door panels will look crappy in comparison and need a redo. And the cycle continues...
