Instrument Cluster "Engineering Test Mode"

Hi everyone,

Was reading on another forum and stumbled up on this. Press and hold the "OK" button on the steering wheel as you start the truck, then release when you see "ENGINEERING TEST MODE". You can then scroll through various bits of data that you may or may not find interesting.

Yep. Every Ford product I've owned in the past 15 years has had this feature, you just have to know the magic to access it. On the older F150s and Expeditions, holding the trip/reset "stick" button as you started the truck would put a test mode up on the digital odometer.

I did notice a DTC readout on my truck, and in this video as well. I'm wondering what DTCs are displayed there... just a few related to the cluster, or can you actually see any stored DTC that might affect the engine, trans, etc.? If so, that would be useful...

Yep, I remember doing that on my '03 F150 to see engine RPM since it didn't have a tach. I thought about it recently and just read how to get to it last night. Surprising how many things it lets you scroll through.
