Yep, stack as many hockey pucks as you want for the ultimate body lift. Drill em down the middle and....voila! You're only at the mercy of the length of bolts you can find. I've seen some 6" tall !! No kidding. Prolly not the smartest thing to do, but then again; you DID ask for cheap!
well for the body lift I always use 3" square tube 1/4"wall and I change the bolts so one bolt goes through the top of the pipe through the floor and another bolt goes through the bottom of the pipe and through the mount on the frame......
that two bolt thing is way stronger than running a 6" + bolt up through your lift and into the body. think about it. I lifted a chev blazer with the 3" tubing alternated direction so half the tubes were front to back and others side to side used grade 8 bolt through the top into the body and the stock through the frame mounts to a nut in the tube lock tighted then filled them with spray foam(they kinda whistled on the highway) then undercoated them
the proof of thier strength was when my ex borrowed the truck got loaded with her trashbag friends and flipped it 2X end over end
not 1 body mount broke loose want to try that with hockey pucks and theaded rod???
imo hockey pucks are good to replace stock body mounts(not a stack just 1) or for playing hockey
people do alot of different things for body lifts............
whatever works for you than do that......I like the the 3" tube idea because you don't have a big long bolt that could bend.....also if you do the tube idea I suggest to rotate half of the tubes 90 degrees just for strength factor............ I had a 92 Sidekick with the 3 inch body done like this and I went mudding even had all 4 off the ground jumping in the pits and never had any body shift..........
but anyway I am not asking for any body lift..........
LOOKING FOR A SUSPENSION LIFT I CAN BUILD..............
When you use two seperate bolts, you loose a hard mechanical connection DIRECTLY between the body and the frame like you would with a stock truck. I would be afraid of one part sliding horizontally and coming off. Somewhat like an oreo cookie having the top peice slide right off the white frosting!
i heard around here, where some guy used hockey pucks to lift up his truck and when he went around a corner one of the pucks came out and it caused the truck to roll
Shackle flips and lowered spring mounts. El cheapo, works great, super strong, you just need to know how to weld and fab, which it sounds like you do. Check my gallery.
