Water leaving radiator

I've been working on my 1979 f150 for the last month. Just bought it a month or so ago. New plugs adjusted carburetor set timing high right now because vacuum advance is not working. I changed oil flushed radiator and put 2 gallons anti freeze/water. I've only test drove truck, no more than 25 miles. I checked fluids today and the radiator was 1/2 gallon low. Oil was full and black. Transmission fluid was full and cherry red. When truck idles there is a faint white smoke coming out of exhaust pipes, both sides. There's no catalytic converter. Also has headers. I have a video of some but do not know how to upload it here.

It is pretty common for the cooling system to hold some air pockets which get worked out on the first good drive. Then it needs topped up. Not necessarily an issue.

As far as the white smoke, not sure. Does it show up on cold start? After a good drive? Both? A blown head gasket or cracked head can let coolant get in the chamber and exhaust which makes white smoke. Burning anti-freeze has a unique almost sweet smell. One quick check is to pull the plugs again. If one or two are really clean they may be getting steam cleaned by the coolant.

Burning oil makes a white/blue smoke which has a different smell. The plugs will be dirty often with white/grey deposit if run for a while.

Best case it is just water vapor if it is still cool out.

OK I will check plugs tomorrow. I'm glad to hear of air pockets. When truck starts in morning it's like most vehicles in mornings. The smoke did not go away after a short drive (5 miles). I do not notice any smoke going down the road, only while idling. No sweet smell. Just smells like exhaust if you were inside a closed garage. This come out of exhaust for about 3 minutes when first started this evening. I had driven approximately 8 miles 7 hours earlier. That's black water. No smell.
