Question Flush Mount BackUp Camera Location

So I currently have the backup camera pictured installed on my 2004 F150. It is a design type that has a fixed bracket that mounts behind the plate to discourage theft they say, I did use security screws on my plate but anyway. It has given me 4-5 years of great service, no issues at all, I do all the wiring on my truck. It is starting to sort of loose the color picture during daylight which is wrong, sometimes it actually flips between color and black & white while in use. I am just going to assume this is the beginning of the end for its lifespan, which is fine, I got my monies worth and wired it so a replacement is super simple. I have been looking at the flush mount style of cameras, all the bells and whistles, no intention of skimping as I use it all the time. The question...finally....where to mount it? Figure they use a hole around 3/8"-1/2" somewhere in that area, sitting inside while it rains and the wind is gusting up to 40mph I am trying to find a place in the center line, low enough, high enough, all that stuff and not wanting to drill a hole in my tailgate, where to put it? Has anyone drilled one of these guys in the 04-08 styleside models and found a good spot that does the job? Show me where you stuck it lol, thanks!

Mounting bracket runs the length behind the plate and mounts in plate holes.
