Hi guys
I've replaced the passenger side cowl due to a dodgy patch.
I have a mid fifty replacement cowl panel but it wont fit.
If i line it with the door jam then where it meet the seam its out by about 7mm. If i line it up at the horizontal seam then its out on the door jam.
I measured the rocker panel on both sides and the drivers was longer by 5mm. My measurements were 85cm and 85.5cm. Can anyone tell me theirs please.
My truck's a '53. So, I don't know how much this helps. I get 84.407cm from the door post to the strike jam. My truck has a sheet metal angle spot welded at the corner where the rocker panel abuts the door post. If I'd measured to that, the length would have been even smaller by a mm or two. If nothing else, at least this response will boot your question back to the top of the forum topics... Good luck.
My '56 is exactly 86 centimeters for both passenger and driver. I too bought my cowl panel replacement from Mid-Fifty. It required a lot of fabricating to make it fit. I chopped it in half too...only needed the bottom 16" or so. I would recommend cutting the patch panel and using only the smallest patch needed to make your repair.
Thanks guys
Unfortunately I removed the old one and damaged it beyond repair so I'll make this one fit by fabricating the top fold to suit. Obviously I'll clamp the door jam side so it lines up then get the top seam part and refold it.
