Wife rolled our '05 EX with 6.0 PSD... Luckily, it landed on it's tires.. Unlucky for me the Ins Co totaled it, due to all the sheet-metal damage. Only broken glass was windshield, the passenger rear big side glass, and driver's door. I removed the front grille, headlights, and header to update my 00 F250. I even snagged the Limited-Slip diff for my F250.
I drove the truck out of the ditch up to the wrecker. So, I know the engine is fine. I even let it idle in driveway for 2 hrs, just to make sure..
I was going to pull the 6.0, and egr delete and bulletproof it. But, now I'm thinking I'll just sell it all to get rid of it.
Bottom line is this, what's it all worth? Or just the engine alone?
Sorry bout that part... Oh yes... she was fine, only got a glass cut when she released her seatbelt... the ole EX kept her safe.. that's why there's another one in the garage...

That's great to hear!! Seat belts save lives and so do the beast Excursions from other stories I've heard on here. I don't know the answer to your question but others, will chime in shortly I'm sure.
Just curious...Is the Ex more prone to rollovers or is it just an SUV thing?
It's more prone to rolls with 35PSI in the tires These are large, heavy, top heavy trucks with some control issues. So many variables to consider BUT as one of the newest members & already reading about TWO ROLLOVERS in a few Months you can draw your own conclusion, YES. If you went over to the Honda forums you would not be seeing this trend.
OP: JEEEES I have 2 Xs as well (3 actually) BUT it's not in case the wife rolls one PICS,PICS,PICS LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION
Glad she is well...
How many miles on the old one? I think I read your new 05 ex has 200k on it already.
So my $.02 would be to pull the engine and trans out, wrap them up for storage and keep them for the rainy day or bad day if the current one blows up. You cant buy another good runner you know the history of for the $2000 you are in your wrecked one.

How did it happen?
As heavy as they are I don't think they are any more prone to rollover than a 4X4 pickup. At least in both my EX's, I don't feel they are rollover prone. Wife was looking at cell phone, went off the roadway, looked up, jerked truck back on rdwy, the truck traveled across an 8' asphalt shoulder then back into her lane. She thought she was in the oncoming lane, so she jerked it hard right, which put the truck into a 180 deg spin. When it left the roadway it started down an embankment, hooked into the soft soil, then rolled.

Yep new one is close to 200k, would have to run out to look.. close, nonetheless. The old one had 179k on it.
You are right Jeremy05, I prolly should just pull it and wrap it up. Who knows what I'll do, just researching options. Pulling that engine might be a bit interesting though.. Thought about just removing entire front clip then slipping it out with the ole tractor w/ front end loader. Leave everything I can bolted onto it....minus tranny on the engine removal.
I bought this 2 years ago for $22250. 04 with 84k. It was perfect in every way. Eddie Bauer with 6.0. All stock.
Rolled it 200 miles later on black ice.
Bought it back for 2200, kept it until I bought my black 05. Swapped a couple interior pieces, swapped all the seating and carpet.
Sold it all for 5k to a customer who just blew up his 6.0 in his pu.
I thought of keeping it but I'm not a diesel mechanic and felt the offset of 2x the labor for r&r work wouldnt be cost effective vs selling it for nearly 3k profit.
If you can do the work I'd buy if it was cheap.
I had to work to get my insurance Co to pay me what I paid for it, actually a few hundred more.
That said the buy back price was 10% of the value.
Yours undoubtedly would be less due to the miles, therefore the buy back should be proportionally less.
A couple years ago "totaled" the 00 X on black ice hit the rear driver side corner on a concrete median. Put in a new tail light and drove for 3 months before fixing. Insurance paid $10K buy back was $1,200 got it fixed for $1,200.
Picked up the 03 Which had a cruise control fire at 120K miles for $600. Good doors, rear windows/doors. all drivetrain, 4x4.
A running 6.0 should be worth $2-3K.
First off, I'm glad that your wife is okay. That is what really matters.
Secondly, you didn't "buy it back". You kept it for a reduced settlement amount on your loss.
That term kills me, as if the vehicle magically became the property of the insurance company because of the damage. No, it was yours and you kept it. You did not buy it again. That term is about as stupid as a gun buy-back.
I guess 28 years of working under the thumbs of insurance companies makes me sensitive to that term. Getting away from that industry was the best thing I could have done.
Rant over.
