Transmission shifting problem
86 f150 300 auto
transmission won't shift correctly.
Engine revs higher than normal then shifts with all gears. Keeping speed at 45 mph
it seems to upshift then downshift as if it were confused. A couple of days went by
and took it to a shop they found nothing wrong with their test drive....problem gone.
Several months go by with no problem. problem came back
with the shifting. Disconnected the battery for awhile reconnect and test drive....OK
shifting correct again.
Do error codes get set in the computer even if the check engine light doesn't come on?
If so can they be read with out the magic code box?
Don't think there is anything wrong with transmission....possibly a sensor
Is there a generic place to find the purpose of sensors and which ones are used
my transmission? I must get really dirty to find out which trans I have....just putting
that part off.
