Congrats! That will be a nice addition. You are going to be a great Papa!
Be sure to introduce this new addition carefully with his older sister. You don't want her getting all jealous, even though you just gave her a beautiful makeover.
It's all you enablers fault! You guys enticed me! And gave me all the good reasons to buy it.
The stars were aligned and everything fell into place. In order to buy the 55 F350 I have to sell my 70 F350. A year ago a guy in town said if I ever want to sell my 70 he wants first dibs. I ran into him at the NAPA store on Saturday. I went there to pick up a turn signal socket rebuild kit. He asked if I am ready to sell the truck. I surprised him and said "yes". But I said it is contingent with buying this 55 in Erie. On Monday I took the 70 to his place for him to look it over and drive it. He liked it, we agreed on a price.
The next step was to sell it to the wife. I told her I have a buyer for the red truck, which she calls the " Old Clunker." She said really? What are you gonna use as a work truck? Then I showed her the pictures of the 55 and she liked it.
The owner of the 55 called me last night and we agreed on a price. He is getting it inspected so I can drive it home. I am taking the back roads to avoid Interstate 80.

It's 11:28 here and I just read your story. Now I'm going to bed and will sleep soundly knowing our enabling worked. Great find. It was meant to be.
Abe, not to burst your bubble, but there is a 56 F350,,,
in the same town that I`ve been looking at. Only trouble is it apart! It is complete with a factory flat rack. It is in nice condition and was painted before he took it apart. Good luck with the 55.

GCat, tell me about the 56 flatbed. Is that in North East also? Are you pursuing that to buy?
Update on the 55 F350:
The owner took it to get inspected on Wednesday. He called me and said they think the carb needs rebuilt so they ordered a carb kit. It will take a couple days to get that in and then a day to Rebuild and install the carb. So it will be the middle of next week or Saturday before I complete the deal and get the truck.
Congrats! If I had enough garage/shed/drive space I would be 'pleasantly?' surprising my wife with some additions. It should be an interesting to see how the new truck changes or not changes.
Abe, I`m working on getting it. I went to measure the bed last sunday and we talked about it some more. Its an original 6clyinder. . My buddy was surprised Mr camp sold the 55, and he remembers it as a kid growing up in Notheast. He did say it was more than likely the original milage. Any ideas where I can get an original script tailgate? It doesn't need to be perfect, I only want the script so I can transplant it on the repo body I gonna build for my 56 COE.
GJCat, are you buying just the 56 flatbed or the whole truck?
For the Ford Script why not just buy the vinyl Ford script decal they sell that guys out on their tailgates rather than painting the script? And then copy that....
