Running Lights not turning Off

Does anyone know what would cause the running lights to not turn off? The door ajar light is not lighting up so would it be safe to assume that it isn't a door ajar problem? The interior lights are on as well but I have already done the interior light switch mod and changed them to LEDS so my battery draw will be a lot less. The running board lights do turn off after about 45 minutes though.

My overhead console backlights do not turn on and the rearview mirror isn't lit either since last week but I do not know if the issues are related. The Lie O meter still works fine though.

Does anyone know what fuse it is? I would like to pull it till I get this resolved.

Thanks,

Rob

look in your owners manual if you still have it for fuse/relay number, i would think the relay for those lights is sticking.

Try spraying some PB blaster/WD40 in all door latches and slam your doors a few times. I bet one of them is sticking.

Thanks everyone for the quick response.

I did spray WD40 into all of the latches last night and this morning it only did it once. It thru me for a loop yesterday when the door ajar light was not lit up on my dash. I think that I will need to really spray the latches and add this to my annual spring maintenance( summer tires, lube all brake slider pins, lube 4WD hubs etc. ).

If I find anything else that is causing this I will post it right away to help others.

Rob, does the entry key pad on the drivers door work? Mine suddenly stopped working about 6 months ago. I did not get a chance to look at it until about a month ago when my interior lights started with symptoms like you described. I tried every thing that is in this thread and other threads, some ideas worked intermittently but it would come back. In the drivers door is a connection where the entry key pad plugs into the wiring harness. I discovered that after plugging it and unplugging it several times, my key pad started working again AND my light problem was solved. After playing with the entry key pad I realized that when working properly, the first key you touch turns on the running board lights and the interior lights. Like you , I never got a door open light on the dash. The plug connection must have been intermittently been signaling a key touch , which was turning on the lights intermittently .
Hope this helps!

Thanks everyone for the help.

Dtgl1-I will look into this shortly as I would have never thought about the outside keypad.

harley4jcs-I wondered about the hatch as well as two years ago it did act up but I also have a driver side passenger door that doesn't close as easy as it used to.

It did not do this at all today and this was after I sprayed WD40 in all the latches last night.

Either way I was planning on adding a switch nest to my interior light switch to be able to turn the running board lights off for going to drive ins and to not have to wait 45 minutes for the Ex to do this if/when this happens again.
