Well now that I finally have a steady job it is time to repair my truck after all the stalling that comes with being a broke college kid. The big things it needs are a tranny , a new wheel, and up pipes. Clutch and tranny first. It has a zf6. Do you have any good sources for a tranny. What is a good but reasonable clutch. I do moderate towing with the ocasional heavy load (15,000) in PA so lots of mountains. Has a chip on it but I don't know what it is. Estimated about 80-100 over.
It would be good to hear more on what your truck is. Most of us have it in our signature and it will make it easy to just look at that and see what your truck was born with vs what it might have now (not that mine is complete). These things we have in PA don't really constitute mountains but we do have our share of hills. What makes you think that your ZF6 needs repair?
2000 f-250 aluminum flatbed bought it about a year ago. Was told that it had no chip or tuner. I'd drove like a stock truck. About a week after buying it I checked the air filter and it was so clogged that it had sucked it down into the air tube. I replaced the filter and it is pretty obvious it has a chip. Back at the end of deer season I lost 2nd and 4th gear. Now 3rd is starting to go. Also if I down shift it starts banging until I push the clutch. Also the clutch is starting to slip when it is cold.
Dan at Midwest transmission has been the go to guy for ZF rebuilds. He can even get you set up with the 6.0 input shaft that is beefier and doesn't have the pilot bushing problem.
