I am about to replace my OEM Tstat with a Mishimoto brand Tstat, I have the housing that requires the stem be trimmed a little for it to seal properly. My question is how much needs to be trimmed and, if not careful can TOO MUCH be taken off if not done accurately? My intent is to just grind what is required off with my Dremel PT and I have no way of accurately measuring it so it will be done by eye. Also I understand that I will need to boil the new Tstat after I install it into the OEM housing otherwise it won't seal correctly? Is this the general consensus? Thanks for any help with this issue.
In your '07, it should NOT be required to shave it at all..... I would TRY to install the new t-stat as is when you get it first. THEN, if you can not get it to sit right, boil it and try again. Let it boil for 10 minutes. Everything should go OK It fit on my '05 just fine.

Thanks, I have the #092 on my housing and it required that I trim about 3/16th of an inch of to get it to fit the same as the old tstat. If I would of had the #091 housing supposedly it would have fit without trimming.
Sorry, I don't have the pic posting thing conquered yet. The Tstat is already trimmed and in the housing now anyway. I did have to trim it to make it fit right in my housing. Maybe had I waited until I had removed the old Tstat and housing that's still on the engine now I would have found that ford sent the #091 housing with my last tstat that I replaced that came from them. The original one that came off the truck the first time I changed it was the #092. which is the housing I installed the Mishimoto tstat into.
I read on one of these forums (this one I believe but can't find it now) that one needs to boil the new tstat after putting it in the housing or it won't seat correctly and it will need to come out again? Did anyone else read this or better yet did anyone have personal experience with this issue?
