Now after maybe 15 starts in which it continued where it left off (as I assume it is supposed to do) today it comes on with the first track again. . It's good to own at least one Microsoft product, to remind one never to own another.

I think I am beginning to reverse engineer this. If the radio has completed playing the current selection, and then you shut off, it will come back on playing the first track on the USB. If has not completed the currently playing selection, it will continue where it left off.

A bit confounding is what the 'currently playing selection' is. If you selected it by track title, it seems to be only that track. If selected by album, it is the whole album. So if you are at the end of a track selected by track, shut off and restart, it will start playing track 1. But if you are at the end of that same track, while playing the whole album, it will continue onto the next track on the album.

Still reverse engineering it, but that seems to be what's happening.

If I am playing music from the USB stick and shut the truck off it reverts to the radio the next time I start the truck. It will not stay connected to the USB stick. I have to command it to play from USB. When I command it to play from USB it always plays from where it left off.
My 2011 just started doing this with the latest Sync update. Only it switches to AM, and not consistently.

In my 2016 I notice that when I remote start my truck as I am walking up to it, it seems to start blue tooth streaming from phone by the time I get into the truck. Even though I never listen to music this way. However, If I don't remote start, and just get in, and start, then the radio comes on to FM, where I always use it. Phone still connects via Bluetooth as expected, but doesn't start streaming.

for me its an annoyance, but not something I'd bring it in for. I will say that I was quite disappointed that the 2016 SD came with my ford touch, instead of the new Sync 3 that other 2016 vehicles in Ford's lineup are coming with.

Hey Everyone!

I recommend performing a master reset: https://owner.ford.com/how-tos/sync-...html?sync=sync. Keep me posted!

Before attempting a master reset I went to myford.com and checked for any updates. The web site said there was an update available for my system. I followed the procedure and attempted to install the update but got a message on the radio that said "file not found". Here is a screenshot of the files on my USB drive. The USB drive was empty and formatted using the FAT32 file system. The current version of sync on my truck is 4.0.

I then performed a master reset and when I made another attempt to install the update I received the same "file not found" message.

Any idea what the problem is?

Also, the web page has a method for reporting successful updates but I can't find anywhere that allows you to report unsuccessful updates.

drillmaster,

There isn't an option to report unsuccessful updates. I recommend clearing the history, cookies, and cache from the browser, and re-download. You can also re-download on a different browser. Let me know if there's still trouble!

Cara,
I re-downloaded the update using another computer with a different browser. Before downloading I cleared all the browser cache.

I attempted to update but received the same "file not found" message.

Mine is at version 4.0 and the update looks like it's version 5.8.
