OK i could use some wiring help. I need to mount a LED strobelight to the roof of a F250 2016. not really liking the idea of drill a hole in the roof of a new truck I thought of running it thru the existing wiring from the breaklight above the rear window. Anyone could tell me if theres a hot wire in there that I could get power from & than could just run 1 wire to a switch. Any other ides on how to run the wiring greatly appreciated
Why not mount a pole in a stake pocket or put a headache rack on it rather than drilling a hole? You'll probably get better answers in the Super Duty section.
Acari Products
We chose to go with these when our magnetic bar lights wouldn't work for our new aluminum bodied f150s. You remove the 3rd brake light and slide the assembled mount in its opening. It clamps the mount to the roof and the brake light goes in the mount. We drilled the mount and fished the wiring through the headliner, behind the panels and under the sill plate to a switch.
Oddly, the mount is also aluminum so there'll be no dropping a magnetic lights on the mount. It'll have to be fastened another way. We went with a low profile led bar that Acari sells and my supervisor 3m taped them to the mount. They only been in use for a few weeks so we'll see how the lights, mounts and 3m tape hold up long term.

Someone makes a mast looking thing that goes in a stake pocket. I've seen them on some At&t trucks. I didn't get a close look to see who makes it and didn't have much Google luck finding it.
