Consequently, Nissan will concentrate on reaching the "new truck guys," who appear to be more open-minded and more willing to try new brands. The new trucks guys may already have an import vehicle, Dominique added.
The new truck guys also tend to live in neighborhoods near major metropolitan areas. They also tend to be a bit younger, less "blue-collar," more affluent and better educated than Ford, GM, and Dodge loyalists, Nissan representatives said.
Hmmm - If they refer to affluent as meaning prosperous and comfortable...well, ALL my family drive Fords. Not just my parents, brothers, sons, oldest daughter, but my cousins, uncles, aunts, etc. and they (we) are all prosperous, successful human beings. We have at least $100 in checking and savings at any given time - no matter what tragedy or catastrophy.
If they refer to well-educated as being of sound mind...well, ALL my family are of sound mind and have very good jobs. We are so well educated that we buy FORDS!!!!
Originally posted by WXboy Apparently they are not extremely intelligent, because Nissan sells fewer trucks than ANY of their competition.
I don't think they even really make any trucks. Their new "Titan" full size pickup is their first.
I hate to say it, but it's shaping up to be an F150/Silverado killer. It's going to be more powerful than the F150, and judging by the reliability issues we've seen with the Tritons (head gasket leaks, spark plugs popping out, etc.), a bit more reliable.
Now if the big three see this new pickup and it scares them into bumping up quality control while lowering costs, then it will definitely be a good thing.
I think it will be very interesting - the Japanese make very reliable cars, and if this truck is anything like a typical riceburner, US automakers are going to have to raise the bar quite a bit.
