In the picture below, my shifter linkage rod is missing what I assume is a bushing connecting it to the transmission. It is a c6 tranny. I found an old thread that showed some part numbers, some obsolete, and some not. Will the part #EOSZ-7341-A work on my 1970 f250.
Transmission gear shift selector arm insulator:
69/72 F100/350 bumps, 360/390,C6, on trans lever, originally brown in color, part number C80Z7341A.
C80Z7341A r/b D5AZ7341C.
D5AZ7341C r/b E0SZ7341A.
E0SZ7341A r/b E0SZ7341B. Which from memory I think is blue.
I believe E0SZ7341B is still replaced by Ford. I would contact your local Ford dealer. Go original Ford. Not aftermarket unless you have to. Aftermarket ones will be made out of a different material and prolly harder to install. Once you get it install it in the lever 1st. Then poke the rod through it.
i went down to the hardware store and bought an assortment of those rubber grommets that you use for putting wires through through fire wall found yhe right size works perfect
Im still going to get the correct part but I made one up today to see if it would immediately fix my problem. It did. Now I do not have to lift up on my gear shifter to start the engine. It also firmly goes into park and stays there.
The grommet will last until it's pouring rain, it's late at night on a busy highway, and your date has to go home right now (so she won't be late for her new job), and your flashlight batteries are dead.- you know, it's the Murphy Law thing, all over again.
I have one ordered now. I dont like how it is for long term but its better than it was until the new one arrives. after pulling it apart, not sure how much longer it would have lasted.
