2008 vs 2011

Hello All,

I need some advice. I am looking at 2 trucks which i listed below. I need them to pull a travel trailer that weighs 7300lbs empty, guessing about 8,000 loaded. It will be me, my wife and 3 kids usually in the truck, plus gear.

I will only but about 5,000 miles a year on it, if that.

I found a 2008 F250 XL with the 5.4l and only 40k miles on it, but they want $19,000

I also found a 2011 F250 XL wit the 6.2l but it has 116k on it, but they only want $14,900.

Both are in similar shape, but the 2011 seems to have more options, including the towing side mirrors, and it already has the electronic brake controller.

Could you give me your opinion as to which one you would get?

The 2011 is what I would do. It has more miles but you're not going to put many more on it, and rather buying it for a purpose use. The 6.2 is very reliable, will tow that weight better, has the integrated brake controller and you get the newer truck with more options.......and it's less money

I like newer versus older and the 6.2L seems to be a better engine than the 5.4L.

6.2L engine is far superior to the 5.4L.

Yeah not even close here even with miles 6.2, especially since it'll see so little miles from you.

If you're willing to spend $19-$20k why not try and find a similarly equipped lower mileage 6.2?

Dont rule out the '05-'10 V10's, it has more torque than both the 5.4 and 6.2.

I would say 08-10 V10s. I have an 09 cclb and love it. Doesnt even feel like my 9000lb trailer is behind it.

But in those choices i would take the newer one with higher miles. Mine jad 177k on it when i bought it a few years ago for 11k. Now has over 210k and is still awesome. Might have to do some maintenance on it though.

I would go with the 6.2 over the 5.4. It pulls much harder.

For that price you should just find a 2008 - 2010 V10 Super Duty. Way better than the 6.0 Chevy. But i would take the chevy over the 5.4

When towing, all are going to be gas hogs! I have had the 5.4, 3 valve in a half ton, the 6.2 in a F250, and pulled up to 7000 lb with them.....6 to 9 mpg, depending on hills, wind, and fuel quality!
