am I getting ripped off?

1991 f150 and am getting charged 8-900 for used emergency brake assembly, emergency brake lines all around, shoes, barrings, seals, rear diff fluid etc. seems like alot to me considering that they were going to charge me 200 to install the emergency brake pedal and the lines...so, wouldnt he pretty much have everything off already anyhow? He says that the seal is leaking and the parking brake wont work very well without replacing them. I need the parking brake as my truck is a 5spd and the boat ramps i use are scary as hell

Shop rates are around $75-95 an hour. That's quite a lot of work and it may be close. Labor here for the work is what is costing you so much.

I'm only confused about reusing the old brake cables. How old are they? You can do that yourself and buy new ones for under $50. But depending on if you need new brake hardware, then yes, the total gets higher.

And your talking parking on boat ramps, then new hardware is the way to go.

No, you have to pull the axle shafts to do the seals.
If your seals are blown check the vent hose isn't plugged.

Seems like a bit much too me but then again it's been awhile since i paid a "shop" to do anything of significance for me.

Also not sure i understand what all is going on here, why your e-brake stuff needs to be swapped out in the first place. Has the original set-up been removed or severely damaged in someway? I ask that as i have a 1969 f100 and a 1992 f150 both of which have the same e-brake pedal/cables on them as when i purchased them and they both work fine. The 92 i've had only for a few months but it is a one owner all original truck and the 69 i've had since 94. So in my experience either those items don't wear that much or i'am just damn lucky.

I'd suggest shopping around a bit to see what other shops would charge for what you need or grab a manual and do some research and take on the repair yourself.

sounds like a fair bit of work ... plus the unspecified "etc."
I would say that they are not out of line. this is why, at the tender age of almost 62, I still roll around on the asphalt under my truck ... and not always in ideal weather.
