It's time for brake pads on my Explorer. I'm towing about 5,000 lbs about once a month. I'd like to put in better, hd pads. Any recommendations? Thanks.
I ordered som Raybestos SuperStop Rotors and Pads., they are supposidly made for emergency/police vehicles (HD braking power). If ya want I'll tell you the cheapest place to get them
My 2002 X still on OEM pads at 66000 miles. Looks to have about 1/4 in of pad left. The OEM pads are ABEX. Since I've gotten such good mileage from them I would like to replace them with the same but have not found a place that sells ABEX. Is that strictly a dealer part. Anyone know where ABEX can be purchased without paying dealer prices?

If price is not the primary consideration, EBC "green stuff" pads from tirerack would be the way to go. They are dustless kevlar composite. Carbon-based pads will make a lot of dust.
