Need advice on Engine Rebuilt
I have an 89 f-150, 302, 150,000miles. I checked with a company about rebuilding my engine. He seemed very helpful and seems to have a lot of knowledge regarding my motor.
He will rebuild my motor for $1450.
Here are some of the highlights of the rebuild:
1. Use Moly Rings
2. Deck the heads
3. Balance engine
4. Line hone the engine
5. Will reroute the PCV (Ford apparently didn't do it right resulting in the #8 cylinder leaning out)
6. Will do all tin work (i.e. install valve covers, oil pan, etc.)
7. Block is baked
8. All gaskets included except upper plenum intake gasket.
In addition, he requires me to have my injectors checked by an independent third party (he suggested Napa) to verify flow rate etc. I planned on installing the engine myself, so he requires that after the install is done, I bring my truck by so he can check timing etc. before he will give me my warranty papers. The warranty is 7 years/70,000 miles. Would have it done in 5-7 business days.
Any comments on what I should be asking him or checking into? Any help would greatly be appreciated.
