LTD Front Clip?

Anyone done similar and be willing to share? Using a clip from one of the early 460 LTD's sounds like a good way to go. Are the Mercury and Lincoln the same dimensions?
Altho the Volare appears adequate and the Dakota is Top Gun if running a mans size engine I'm still open to ideas.
Just collecting ideas for the 55 F100 out in the woods.
And PLEASE, no M11 or Aerostar.
Merc, I used a '78 LTD donor car with a (don't laugh) 400 for my '55. I measured to do the clip, but I didn't have the heart to cut off the beautifully straight effie frame rails. So I boxed the frame and built in the attachments for the LTD suspension, and added the LTD rear also.
I wouldn't do that again because the manhours were uncountable, I would do the clip. But my results should mirror the clip results. All suspension and steering componets are in top shape and I added about two hundred pounds of metal to the bed when I modified it.
It rides like a dream, and you can turn loose of the steering wheel at one hundred miles per hour and she just cruises true and straight.
The 400? It's .030 over, with a stock cam advanced 8 degrees, Performer manifold and Holley four barrel.
I couldn't be happier.
If I can ever get the hang of posting pictures in my gallery I have some pictures of my 55' F100 that has a 1987 Crown Victoria clip along with a 88' Crown Vic 5.0 EFI engine. I just got it back Saturday and my friend who did the clip likes it better than the way his 56' with a Chevelle clip rides. His dad has a 54' Panel already to put back together and even he was suprised by the ride. His dad is using a Volare. The good clip about this clip is that a 4.6 if you change the mounts will drop in on the factory crossmember. It rides real good so far. Once I learn howto put pictures in my Gallery I will send you shots of the buildup. Thanks
