Angry a4ld problem

I beleive I over heated my tranny last weekend the fluid bubbled and sprayed out the front seal. and I had to get towed home . After it had cooled down about 4-5 hours I started it back up and the leak had stopped. I then repaced fluid and filter <fluid was black> everthing works fine exept it seems to take forever to go from a neutral position to forward It can take anywhere from 15 to 30 seconds to engage into gear after it goes into gear it works great no slippage at all. it goes into rev. as normal.
can anyone help me I beleive it must be something in my valve body but I would like other oppinions
sorry for such the long story just want you to have all the info.

I believe this is usually blamed on the front seal itself. The delay in the engagement could be low ATF level, if you haven't added fluid since the incident.
