tailgate latch problem

tailgate latch problem

Has anyone else had any problems with their tailgate latch? Mine has decided that you need to flip it up two or three times before it will open, and then, the same all over again before it will catch and close. I tried lubing the latches with silicone, but it didn't seem to help.

Any input is appreciated.

Well hello Crystal! I am fine, and you?

I started looking around and found that the bolts that hold the right hand latch in place had vibrated loose. Tightened up and problem solved!

take the cover off and inspect the mechanism. I had trouble once and took it apart and cleaned it.

I got to looking around and found the bolts were coming loose from the right side latch mechanism. That fixed it. Thanks for the input!
