Just trying to figure out what front end i have for ordering parts???I've been told its a dana 60 and 44?its on a 1979 f250 with 8lug rims thanks for the help
Decode the BOM number stamped on the housing. Look up the number in Dana/Spicer's reference library. A link is provided in the tech info compilation. Use it.
Thats my classy lift i built back in school its been holding up good so far haha but alright im just looking to order all new front end parts and i was looking at rock auto and it some parts call for a 3800 or 4500 drive axle and I'm assuming if its a D44 its that 3800?
Hard to tell on my cracked screen but it Looks like you have a later year open knuckle disc brake axle under there? Somewhere in the 76-79 range. Is it a low pinion or high pinion?
Those front leaf blocks are a safety hazard and are actually illegal to use in some states.
Pretty sure it's high pinion?i will double check tomorrow. Is that that what they go off of for axle weight? and the lift is getting changed anyways now that i have the money it was kind of a temporary thing for going off roading.
Find out if it's low or high pinion also if the lockout hub area has the small hubs or big hubs that will tell you which axle it is for the weight rating
On the cover side upper right side of the diff next to the spring u-bolt will be a cast in number, be it 44 or 60. Scrape the crud away to find out. If it is a low pinion 60 with disc brakes, it is 76-77. You still have the axle tag on the left side of the cover. Clean it and give us the numbers.
