First Head Gaskets, now more problems. Help!!

Hi All,

First off, let me say that I am new to diesels so pardon my ignorance or stupid questions.

I bought an '05 F250 6.0 Diesel in December last year. Had a tremendous amount of coolant loss, so I ended up doing head gaskets, ARP studs, new oil cooler, blue spring update and a few other things. I had the heads re-surfaced and put everything back together. The coolant loss has cleared up but now I'm having more trouble.

I was towing a 3,000# trailer today and noticed that when pulling up a hill there was alot of black smoke coming out of the exhaust and the truck did not seem to have much power. Also, the turbo seems very loud and I noticed that when letting off the accelerator, there was a "put, put, put" noise as I slowed down. I used to town this trailer with a V8 gas Dodge and it pulled much better, so I know that something is wrong. The EGR has already been deleted on this truck.

I'm not sure if the turbo is bad or what? I checked the turbo when it was off and didn't notice play in it, but I didn't clean it or open it up.

Please help! Any suggestions would be great.

What is your boost gage reading? Could be a torn or blown off boot. craked cold side CAC tube if its still plastic. Or stuck turbo

Have you checked your CAC boots for tears or holes?especially on the bottom side of the lower one. If you have a leak in those on the hot side, those are classic symptoms. Elimate the easy stuff first.

Better check the sensor to

Sounds like the turbo is stuck if your getting that cha cha cha sound upon go pedal lift

Mpg down to I assume

I have checked the boots for tears and they look fine. My boost gauge is reading over 20 sometimes higher.

Yes, my fuel mileage is terrible - under 10MPG.

Which sensor are your meaning to check??

I'd start with the EBP, unplug it and see how she does. Also clean the ebp tube and map tube.
