So I put Swamps single shots in my Excursion . When I tried to start it its a no go . I have the Hydra chip and when I put tunes on I enabled the PATS system. My question is , should I go back and turn off the PATS ? BTW : I pulled the chip and the rig fires right up . Thanks
Different chips are or are not compatible with the PATS. I too have a Hydra, but with PATS disabled. Theft light blinks for about 5 minutes after start up then goes away.
So the Theft light was flashing , I did the relearn steps and now the light stays on and no start with chip in. Pull chip starts right up . I disable or enable the PATS same thing , lights on no start. I unplugged the green PATS plug under dash That just turns off light in dash still no start . Wondering if anyone else has had similar issue and fixed it ? I feel its a Swamps tune thing but its hard for me to call them during my work hours .
Let it sit for about 10/15 minutes with the key away from the ignition. I think there is a procedure when you change the chip..Mine wouldn't start when I just changed tunes on my tuner. I think you can put the key in turn to start but do not start, theft light blinks rapidly for awhile, when it slows down(blinking), pull the key out and then restart...something like that. I just wait 10 minutes and it starts right up....lol. Its intermittent and doesn't do it all the time.
So rig is up and running. I had E-Mailed Dave at Swamps, he sent me out different tunes for it . I loaded those up put the chip back in and boom ... she fired right up ! Thanks all for your ideas , now I need to drive it some and see how she goes.
I went with 175/146 . I know bigger can be better but I use the rig to travel lots of miles and so went the economical route . I have stock turbo with wicked wheel in it . I just rebuilt the engine , .020 over put forged rods in, RR ,4 inch turbo back ,V&B springs need another 200k out of it :-)
Got the same injectors in the 02 Excursion with Hydra on Swamps tunes. Planning to get some tunes from Gear head as people claim they have the best tunes without a ton of smoke. Mine smoked really bad with the stock air box but it's a lot better now with the S&B.
Towed my fish house this Winter on tow tune and the tranny hunted a lot so put it in drive, got about 3-4mpg. On the way back put it in stock and the tranny rarely shifted and got 12mpg. Even running at 25-30K lbs in the dually get 9-10mpg.
Hoping the tranny stays strong for a while . I really put a bunch of money into the engine so for now just drive her easy and save up . Great rigs though, I have owned 7.3s for a long time , this is the first one I have put money into . Normally just drive them and maintain them. Started with a rusty oil pan and when I got the engine out I went a little crazy !
