Having really small hands sucks usually, but occasionally they pay off for things like that.

But I have a !YUGE! ego to back them up

Not having huge forearms helps for sure. I would much rather do it from underneath than pull the turbo. The worst part for me is getting that one bolt that you can't hardly see over the bell housing for the heat shield.

I only dated girls with small hands, that makes anything they hold look huge

I replaced mine with really large hands and turbo in lol. Just unbolted the degas bottle and slid it out of the way, and removed the ficm. Was not nearly as bad as i expected. I had 0 chance of doing it from the bottom

If you would quit riding that Artic crap so much and get a real sled your arms would not be so big from pulling it out all the time.

JK!!!!!! I couldn't resist.

Hahaha, I wish I was getting it stuck... Not having much of a winter, or any winter, here in the Northeast

We had a lot of snow here in the Midwest, finally starting to feel like spring now.
Around here it's mostly ditch pounding and it was a great year for it, thankfully we have some nice meadows and smallish hills around here.
For mountain sledding we have to go 8 plus hours west to the Black Hills or Bighorns. Gave the RMK a good workout for sure but nice to have the little old XLT for riding around here (go ahead let the Polaris flaming begin!....at least we have the 6.0 in common lol)

The first time I did it on a lift. Took me 2.5 hours and came from under the truck. The hardest part is removing and installing the three bolts that hold the heat shield on. Need a 10mm for two bolts and a 13mm for the other. Once they were loose I could remove with my fingers. Once that is done and using the special snap-on socket, the rest was pretty easy. It took me about 10 minutes to remove and replace the ICP. I did not replace the connector.

The second time I did it, it took me 1.5 hours laying on the driveway from under the truck, again. Been there, done that! Did not replace the connector. I hope that is the last one.

This is what I did. I had to cut down a socket to get it to fit in there right, but that was the way I ended up doing it. I tried to get at it from the bottom like a lot of people suggested, but it just was not working for me. Think I did this in 2009. I still have that cut down socket in my tool chest.

First time I had to remove the turbo was this summer when the truck was belching black smoke and sputtering. Had to polish up the interior of the turbo so the unison ring would not bind. Well, after failing to ensure the turbo spun freely after putting the two halves back together and putting it back in the truck, I had the pleasure of taking it all out again and put it back in again. Everything is a lot easier the 2nd time around. Lucky for me, the 3rd time wasn't the "charm".

i did mine from the top without having to take the turbo out. it was still a pain in the ***. i have short arms. with a 4 inch lift plus 33 inch tires, wasn't going to happen from the bottom without putting the truck on a lift.

a cut down deep well 1 1/16 socket is the way to go. i did mine with a crow foot. i do think snap on makes a specific socket for it. getting the crow foot around the sensor to break it loose was very difficult. i also used a long extension with a u joint. disconnecting the up pipe on the turbo gave a little bit more room.

i am glad i did go in from the top. how i figured out my oil cooler was failing when i took off the degas bottle.

i wish however i had looked up how to do the oil cooler before i did the icp. i didn't know the turbo had to come out for that. saved me the headache of doing it with the turbo in.

Yeah I did this 2 years ago on this truck, I replaced the connector at that time too, not sure whats up with these sensors going out after 20-25k of use. Maybe on the 03-early 04's its placement, don't hear as much about them on the late 04-up's.

I tried getting my big mitts up there to remove the heat shields too but I just couldn't do it. I'm pretty sure I pulled the turbo last time I did it on this truck too...oh well, doesn't take me that long to do anyway.
