Front axel seals

Shop says my front inner axle seals inside pumkin may be leaking after they change knuckle joints, I can't really afford to have the seals replaced. They saying it's gona cost bout 600 more to change them. Do I need to worry bout this much or will it be OK for a while???? I don't go off road much at all,if I do it's on gravels roads and grass...will it cause any damage to inside pumkin or will it survive for a while????

Thanks , Justin

What year truck? 4x4 or 2WD? Which seal are you referring to? Can you show from the link below?

Of you don't use 4x4 or leave the hubs locked nothing is supposed to be spinning. It does leave things open for contamination though. This isn't a super hard project to do. Buy yourself a shop manual, the seals are cheap, rtv and oil. A few basic tools will get the job done.

He is talking about the inner seals....The diff has to come out and the job isn't for the inexperienced. Special tool to install..etc. possible case spreader needed.

Right the diff has to come out. Being used im doubting the need for a case spreader also. It will come out with a pry bar and a mallet will be able to tap it back in. The only special tool needed is a torque wrench. Really just depends on you comfort level and what tools you have.
