Working on the truck to get a lift kit in, and in my obsession to make things nicer then when I started, think I might have an issue with my radius arms.
The pics are of the same arm but one clean, and one not.
Should I be worried about the excessive pitting where the c-bushing seats? Not sure if all the build up is rust or a combo of rust and gunk/dirt.
Opinions for those who know more?
Haven't tried the new bushings yet to see how they fit, but will tomorrow.
If the bushings fit as they should, You should be ok. You are going to have a tough time finding parts that aren't pitted on trucks that are around 40 years old......
Not surprised about the rust, this truck is full of it.
Just not sure if I should let it go and just paint it, or build the area back up. I have stick welding rods made for cast, but don't think I could safely build up the area without heat stressing the rest of the part(s).
I don't think I'd worry about it, paint it and go. If you wanted, you could put some JB Weld or some other epoxy there to make up for the uneven surface. For sure I'd paint it with some sort of epoxy based paint to protect it from now on.
