Read my thread on the Explorer Platinum. We had a Limited for 3 years with the naturally aspirated 3.5L and had no problems with it. This platinum has more electronic problems every day and I won't be owning it long. The worst part is that Ford really doesn't seem to care about the customer. Ford is working on a TSB to fix some of the electronics, but it's not going to fix everything. So far, it's been in the garage for 19 days and nothing has been fixed yet. Good luck, but the new acadia and traverse are being released this summer. It should be more in line with the explorer and not so portly. I know I'll be taking a look.

Boss just signed for a used 16 Explorer Limited 4x4 this weekend, had 5K miles on it. Fantastic car, sits well. Has no issues currently obviously. We'll see how it goes through ownership. They have their first long trip with it in about a month, probably put 3000 miles on it in 2 weeks.
