My mechanic quoted me $300.00 for new valve cover gaskets believing they were the culprit. I'm just not sure so I was hoping to get other opinions, I'm in the middle of replacing my intake manifold gaskets (upper and lower) and took some pictures while I have things opened up.
All images are taken from inside the van (engine cover removed). Looking at drivers side valve cover, then passenger side. Any opinions?
It does look like the valve cover gasket is leaking. Since you're replacing the intake manifold gaskets, you'll be replacing the valve cover gaskets anyway. You don't want to re-use the old VC gaskets, and most intake manifold gasket sets include the VC gaskets as well as the manifold gaskets, expecting you to replace both. So you'll solve all the leak problems.
