Floor console

I'm a new Excursion owner coming from GM products for the last eon. I've had a Sierra and and an Avalanche, both with floor consoles. I've grown to like the layout and cupholders in the GM consoles. My question is, has anyone ever tried to install one of the GM consoles in an Excursion? I'm considering trying, if I can find one cheap enough. The gray colors look pretty close. I just thought I'd check to see if it's ever been done before and if there were any tips.

Exclamation

The layout of the floorpan/center hump will require a lot of trimming to get a GM console to fit on a floorpan.

Why not re-configure the console with the features of the GM?

They really are completely different.

I am sure somebody has done it and if they have not then I am positive it can be done. It is just a plastic box, fit it to your liking and securely bolt it in place.
Really isn't a difficult project.

I used a ford console on mine because the profile was similar to the ex and the colors matched. But all of that can be modified as well so use what ever make or style you like.

I'm sure it can be done but then dealing with a lifetime of anti rejection meds would be a concern.
Good luck and be sure to post up plenty of pics of the job if you do go through with it, we love looking at EX pictures here!

Sure it can be done, but if I ever come visit your part of VA I'm taking it out and putting a Ford one back in

Do some digging, somebody on here has put a console from an expedition in theirs that may be more to your liking...

A bit drastic!

Anyway, I found a set of power front buckets from an '03 Excursion with the console and am going to go that route for now, providing I can get the seats clean enough to suit me. The lid for the console has a couple of scrapes on it and I was looking at replacements. It appears that there are different part numbers for the console lid for the Ex and the Super Duty. I would have thought that they were the same. Does anyone know if the lid from the Super Duty is an exact replacement for the Ex or were they slightly different?

I believe the main difference is the Ex console has the wood grain looking insert vs super duty is plain.

I think that was only the Limited (maybe Eddie Bauer) with the wood grain. The one I got came out of an XLT with gray cloth interior and the lid is the same as the rest of the console. Fake plastic leather grain gray. Perhaps I can just put some foam on the top and cover it with a matching vinyl.
