Hello I was just wondering what all this info on my 1989 F-250HD means?
Frnt GAWR: 3559 Rear GAWR: 4012
Type F261
Body TJ4
Trans= T
Axle 25
Tape 3
spring 66
The transfer case has these #'s on it: 13-56-065-910 I just want to confirm that means I have a BG 13-56 transfer case.
the rear end tag is not that clear but I think it says 4.10.10 which I would think that means i have 4.10 gears right?
Does anyone know what trannie is in this thing?
The truck has a 5.0 v-8 with 189,000 on it anyone have any tips I should follow when I rebuild it? Thank you in advance for any info.
What is a good trannie to put in its place that will bolt right up and use the same wiring? Also do you think they put that AOD trannie in the truck because it has the 5.0 rather than a 460v-8?
Thanks for your help can anyone decode the rest of that info?
I just went thru the whole truck last night and its not a HD I just recently bought the truck and the guy that sold it to me said it was an HD and I thought because it had large center caps coming out of the rear tires it was the sterling rear but I took the tire off last night and nothing there, I also found the gvwr and it is 6800lb so I have all the wrong info for the truck and your right it has the Aod trannie.
Now I need to know what kind of rear end I have it has 12 bolts on it and the tag say's 4.10 1028m20? Axle # is 25 What ever that means.
Also the transfer case is a Borg Warner and the #'s on it are 13-56-065-910 is this a good transfer?
The "4 10 102" on the rear tag means 4.10 ratio, open differential, and 10.25" ring gear (Sterling).
Your VIN says it's a US-made Ford truck with 6,000-7,000 lb brakes (GVWR) on a 4WD standard cab 3/4-ton chassis with a 5.0L engine built in 1989 in Norfolk, VA.
The BW1356 is a good t-case. Does yours have the PTO port on the R side near the front?
I have a lot of stupid questions. I thought the sterling 10.25 rear was a full floating rear, my rear does not have the centers sticking out of the middle of both rear wheels. Is there 2 types of sterling rears ie: heavy duty and normal duty? Is that 4.10 rear limited slip? What is an open differential? I will check for the pto port but i don't remember seeing anything like that. Is this truck worth building up and dumping a lot of money into or should i just use it for the winter then trade it in the spring for a 250 HD or better yet a 350 4x4.
Thanks a lot in advanced for your help.
Joe.
