Hey i have a 1988 F150, its a v8 5.0 302, i have dual flowmasters on it and the 2 stock converters in front. i want to get rid of the stock ones and just get one high performance converter on it. any ideas how? let me know thats Anthony
Hey there Anthony and welcome to FTE!
The aftermarket (performance) converters flow about 25% more exhaust than stock ones. They are about $75-$80. each and you'll need 2 of them. Is it worth it?
If you are thinking of just having one converter, then you'll need to have a muffler shop make you a new "Y" pipe, then the rest added on. Should cost about $150.00 -$175.00.
Talk with you later...
Hey Anthony! Yes, if that's what you really want to do. Is there something wrong with the converters, or are you looking for performance gains? Going with headers, then into a single exhaust sytem on a V-8 may hurt your fuel mileage somewhat. And you won't gain any power with that set-up.
You can do it, but I'm not understanding why you would spend that kind of money and not get anything out of it.
