A couple of questions. Thinking of going with a little larger tire. Mainly for appearance sake, to fill the wheel well a little more than the stock size LT 245 65 17. Also for possibly a little better 2WD traction than the Firestone Transforce ATs that I replaced the factory tires with.
I've read some good things here about BFG All Terrain KO2 and I like the appearance of BFG. What size would you guys recommend that wouldn't throw the speedo off too much to be adjusted by the local Ford store? Or is it possible to calibrate the speedo with the 5 Star X4 tuner that I bought but have not yet installed?
I noticed the SRW F-350 XL gets a special 18" steel wheel option. I like the stock steel wheel look, I wish I had those instead. They look the same as the 17" steel. Tiny bit wider at 8" instead of 7.5". And they come with 275/70/17E A/Ts
without the truck, ford parts wants $400 a corner for them.. for just the rim. lol

My truck has the 18" wheels. I was looking at another set of wheels for winter tires and a set of 4 18" OEM 8-lug wheels on ebay usually run about $400-$800, a lot cheaper than the price you got from Ford parts.

I had a hard time debating on the BFG KO2 or the Goodyear Duratrac back a couple months ago when I was looking for tires.. Have friends and family that run both tires, and have driven on them both.. Both great tires as far as traction goes. I love the Duratracs, best tire I have bought as far as snow/ice and mud traction go. IMO the Duratracs hook a little harder in the snow and ice than the BFG's do. Only thing I didnt care for on the BFG's was how every small stone and rock you drive over gets stuck in the tread. I was driving my buddies Raptor at our hunting camp to run to town, and after about a mile down the gravel road, rocks were flinging all over the wheel wells on the 5 miles of pavement to town. Didn't care for that because I live on a Dirt road. Have 7,000 on my tires now and I love them. My Uncle has 325/60r/20 Duratracs on his '08 6.4, they are beasts. But he fights for 10mpg going downhill with a tailwind. But I don't think you could possibly go wrong with either.
So far Ive found I've found the KO2 (285/70-17) for $233 with free shipping at 4WD.com. But of course then I've got to truck them someplace and get them mounted, balanced and put on. I can get all 4 mounted/balanced/installed at a local Mr. Tire store for $1075 per their website. But a friend manages the local store so I guess a phone call is in order to see what he can do.
In November the KO2's was $231 a tire installed at Discount Tire (in Michigan), $980 out the door. I paid I believe $255 a tire for my Duratracs out the door.

Unfortunately there are no Discount Tire stores even remotely close to me.
I put 285/70/17 BFG AT KOs on my truck and they look pretty good. My speedometer was also not off, which surprised me since the truck came with the 245/75/17s. When these wear out I might go slightly bigger to fill the wheel well a little more.

That's good info because you made the switch to and from the same size tires that I'm considering. I guess I could verify with GPS if it knocked the speedo off any.
I can't remember if tire size was part of the equation when I had 5 Star do the tunes in an X4 for me. I emailed them this evening and they got right back to me and said to give them a call. I have yet to install the tunes to the truck from the X4, so I'll get 5 Star's take before I pursue a tire change any further.
Looks like we're off to the races. I contacted my manager friend at the local Mr. Tire. Getting the tires for $230 each. They'll be in this afternoon. As a small business owner myself, I always try my best to do business with the local guys.
I also called the guys at 5 Star Tuning. They did indeed set the X4 tuner up with my current tire size. I haven't installed the tunes yet, but when I do I can get into the settings and change the revs per mile to 650 for the new tire size and the speedo should be good.
I'm running Copper AT3s in 285/75R16 on my CCLB F350. I love these tires as Im driving all over Vermont from covered highways to dirt roads. I get by in 2wd 90% of the time compared to the original ATs that cam on my truck. This winter I have not put any weight in the bed and have not realized the rear end fishtailing unless I want it too.
