stereo and readout display lights
I just bought a 96 explorer eddie bauer edition and have found out that when I turn on the head lights the stereo and lower console displays don't go to dim they go off. The dash lights work and the over head display go to dim as advertised. So I know some parts of the system are working, any ideas on what might be causing this?

a short somewhere... have you checked all the fuses? pulled out the radio to see if it works properly and is connected properly? sometimes a loose connection can do it. me personally i am ditchng my stock radio as it now tells me "ERROR" allmost everytime i put a cd in.
