installed battery backwards

After realizing what I had done I quickly corrected the polarities. Since then I've replaced two batteries and two alternators in less than a week span. I noticed that the head lights appeared dim when I had It running last. So purchased a new voltage regulator. Now have a new battery and alternator plus the voltage regulator but I'm leery about installing them. What could be causing these failures?

I'd check the wire grounding the battery and the engine to frame ground, if old, just replace them all, you need a battery ground to engine, then from the engine to the frame, 4 gauge.

The ground wire is brand new , but I'll check for proper connection. Thx!

Remember, there are 2, most only focus on battery to engine, if the frame ground is not solid, it will cause issues, and someone suggested a good ground on the external regulator.
