I had a lot of big ideas back then. I put together a 300 with a 4bbl intake and late split exhaust manifolds and way to much cam and it is still sitting in my shop. I sold the truck it came out of. My user name is another grand plan that never came to fruition.
I like the looks of your truck. If I could find a factory 4x4 I would stick with it, but as long as I am modifying I plan to have fun and go different.
Who is your dad? I worked with Chad Housch and Otto Barnick for years at RM Stoudt and have since worked with Shane Steele and most recently Zack Gardner at Butler. All Montpelier folks.
My Dad is Merlyn Beyer, my name is Ron.
I went to school with Chad, he was in a grade younger than me.
I picked up an Offenhauser 360 4bbl intake for a 300 and a set of hooker long tube headers for the same motor a few weeks ago.
My truck is an ex-NDSU vehicle, if you get s good angle on the door paint you can make out parts of "North Dakota". It started life as a 2wd and was converted to 4wd long before I acquired it.
Fwiw. My daily driver is a 2005 f250 with a 6.0 psd
I like the idea of using the firewall and floor out of the rollover on the rollover chassis. As far as the dash goes, probably using the rollover would be easier.

You know, you can find the most interesting things on Craigslist.. A little high on the asking price if you ask me.
New Ext Cab Bottoms & Corners
New Driver Side Rocker Panel
Very Little Rust On The Rest Of The Body.
Some "repairable" rust panels needed underneath like the pass front floor pan fist sized soft spot & panels from the new ext cab panels to the rear floor pan in order to seal off from warer, snow, mud etc.
Temporary bolts are installed in the box because the last looker said he may not want the box but new Ford bolts come with it.
Less than 10,000 miles on the engine rebuild. Clutch needs adjustment or maybe replacement.
New front axle & wheel bearings.
New front brake pads.
New brake master cylinder.
Odometer shows 53,000 but i'm sure it has turned over once.
This is an great driving truck and deserves a new home that has time to finish the restoration. It's a ton (actually 3 tons LOL) of fun to drive just the way it is but this classic deserves to be finished.
Only you and I would think that 50f is good weather for working on cars/trucks.
Going through a divorce so I need to purchase a newer crew cab to haul the kids around.
I purchased this truck 2.5 years ago out of Washington and it has made some great memories and been the topic of discussion every time I fill up with gas. I have driven it roughly twenty miles round trip to work everyday.
Ext cab in a condition that is almost impossible to find! 400 Motor, C6 Tranny, 2WD, "Ranger" edition. This truck is old and tired. The tranny and engine need to be rebuilt, she also uses some oil and hesitates to shift into 1st at times. It is missing some exhaust. It has the AC pump but it is not hooked up. The heat works. The body is straight, front end is tight, the only damaged panel is the rear curbside by the bumper. There is some surface rust and the floor pans would need to be replaced.
I do have the clean title in hand! That being said, I have driven it all winter and she has never once failed to fire up.
Serviced by dealer as new...smog exempt b/c it's diesel...
The truck in Cal., where I have resided for decades, has to be registered with oem vin#, and therefore is required to have original engine, which was not diesel. It is exempt b/c the cutoff for inspection is 1975 and before. Great story though.
I am at a bit of a crossroads. I have 28" difference between crew wheel openings and F150 wheelbase. I have contacted the owner of the previously mentioned 78 F150 supercab shortbox, as the wheelbase is exactly the same. I just don't really have a use for a supercab at this point in my life. On a positive, removing all 28 inches from the front of the box would yield a box similar in proportion to the current supercrew box. Fairly useless, but I'm looking to haul kids, not plywood.
